About Captina Creek

The Captina Creek Watershed is located in eastern Ohio on the eastern slope of the Flushing Drainage Divide. The watershed drains the southern third of Belmont and extreme northern areas of Monroe Counties with the mouth of the creek located on the Ohio River at Powhatan Point. Captina Creek is fed by six different subwatersheds that carve meandering paths through the rugged foothills of the Appalachian Plateau. The creek is home to a wealth of biodiversity and has been deemed by the OEPA as an exceptional warmwater habitat based on several key parameters.
